Lisa Wu-Hartwell is betting that her new clothing line of that very name will make sense to both.
“I wanted very classical, elegant pieces, but still a little flirtatious. I think these days a lot of women overexpose themselves to get attention,” said Wu-Hartwell of Bravo’s “Real Housewives of Atlanta.”
The 18-piece collection, including skirts, tops, jumpsuits and dresses, debuts at an invite-only showing Thursday night in Midtown.
This won’t be Wu-Hartwell’s first foray into design — she oversees Hart to Hart Baby and Wu Girls Design jewelry, both of which she has scaled back to focus on Closet Freak — but she is quick to admit she’s no designer.
“I’ve always loved fashion … the ‘studying’ I have done is going to retail shops for years and knowing quality,” she says.
Rather than go it alone, Wu-Hartwell hooked up with Atlanta-based designer and American InterContinental University graduate Evelyn Lambert. A transplanted Brit, Lambert originally dreamed of owning an airline, but after landing in Atlanta in the mid-1990s and sensing a lag in fashion, she thought she could make a difference. She started designing handbags, and later added an upscale fashion line.
Closet Freak was initially envisioned as T-shirt-oriented casualwear. But after chatting with Lambert and viewing sketches, Wu-Hartwell had a change of mind. She and Lambert opted for more detailed and dressed-up clothing, which they describe as comparable in style and price to the fashions at women’s retailer Bebe.
There are jersey dresses with ruffled necklines, strapless jumpsuits with blousy pant legs, bubble skirts and print blouses in sheer silk chiffon and silk charmeuse. Colors are bright — purples, greens and pinks — for spring; and there are florals, animal prints and basic black.
Atlanta shoppers could see some items in local boutiques soon, Lambert said, but manufacturing details have yet to be nailed down.
Proceeds from Closet Freak, which Wu-Hartwell considers more of a movement than just a line of clothing, benefit the Big Hart Foundation, the Hartwells’ nonprofit organization to aid children and female victims of domestic violence.
For closet freaks, meaning those who love their closets, or closet freaks, as in those who dress ladylike in public but ramp up the sexy behind closed doors — or for anyone who happens to have an alter-ego (see the “Real Housewives” pole dancing episode from Season 1) — Wu-Hartwell says this one is for you.

This incident happened around my neighborhood and it is the big news around here.
Long story, short version.
On Easter Sunday, five people were killed in a hit and run, a family of four in one car and a 6 year-old in another. The mother of the 6 year-old suffers from two broken legs and various other injuries.

For ten days, police looked for a champagne colored BMW that would have been badly damaged on the driver's side driven by a female.
Last Monday, the SWAT team followed an anonymous tip and surrounded a house of a young woman and her parents. No one was home, but police staked out the residence and after three hours, an SUV entered the subdivision and quickly made a U-turn.

Police caught up with the vehicle and a young woman, her mother and her grandmother are taken away by police unhandcuffed.
A champagne colored BMW with no visible damage was towed away from the garage by the police.

After a night of questioning, the mother and grandmother were released and 22 year-old graduate of Pittsburgh University, Aimee Michael were charged with 5 counts of vehicular homicide, one count of failure to maintain lanes, one count of serious injury by vehicle, hit and run.

Turned out the badly damaged BMW that everyone was looking for was holed up in the family's garage and was repaired by someone whom the police are still looking for. Now Michael told detectives that she left the scene, put the car in the garage and told her mother and grandmother about the incident two days later. Since the police found that the garage was not used as a usual entrance or exit of the home, they assumed the mothers did not know and projected that they won't be charged. TURNS OUT today, Aimee Michael's mother, an elementary school teacher in this area, after arranging for the damage on the BMW to be repaired, switched the tags from the 1998 BMW involved in the accident to that of an 1991 BMW registered to her.

Okay. During the days after the accident, I had always assumed that the person who caused the accident would not turn in themselves on their own volition because of the heavy news coverage and the knowledge that they caused the deaths of five people.
At the very least, I thought that the driver would confide in someone who would encourage the person to turn themselves in, but it took an anonymous tipster ten days after the accident and eight days after Michael confessed to her family to shed some light this case. During the first days, I figured that the person was just incredibly scared and before all the news came out about fixing the car and switching the tags, I kind of felt sorry for Aimee Michael. Now I think that she (and her family) ain't shit.
Now I know you can't really give an definite answer for such a thing unless you're in the midst of it, but would you go to such great lengths to help a loved one cover up such a crime?

Cops: Exotic dancer blitzed by rival with stiletto
AKRON, Ohio — Ohio police say a 52-year-old woman was attacked on her first day as an exotic dancer by a jealous co-worker wielding a stiletto heel.
Akron police Lt. Rick Edwards says the woman was assailed Friday night by a co-worker who didn't think the club needed more dancers. Police say one of the dancers took her stiletto and repeatedly struck the woman in the face as she walked into the basement dressing room.
The woman was treated at a hospital and received seven staples. She has declined to press charges against her assailant.
Police say the woman took the job because she needed the extra money. She has refused to talk to police about what happened.

After slowly realizing that I need to get away from my neck of the woods every so often to save my sanity, I've finally decided to go abroad, but I need suggestions and tips on where to go.
I'm going on a group cruise to the Bahamas in October, but I'm at least looking to go to another continent for this trip.
So far, really into checking out New Zealand. After seeing the New Zealand episode of Amazing Race, I gonna need to check out the Maori native mens up close and personal.
Oh yeah...Methinks the 15 hour trip will be worth it.

My younger sister has come up from New Orleans and has been staying with us for the last few weeks and I must say that I'm loving it.
This is an amazing revelation for me because I couldn't stand her obnoxious ass when we were growing up.

...On A Handstand
Two Saturdays ago, my friend's Circle of Sisters group hosted a party featuring a ladies only pole dancing instruction.
I had a damn ball! Those who wanted to participate had to come dressed for the occasion and in the spirit of sister solidarity, I will not talk about the one girl that had my friend and I rolling when she came in true to form stripper gear including the toe busting clear heels while the rest of the girls came in shorts and a tee.
We were taught by Monique AKA **Showcase** of Pole Dance 411 Studios, who was really cool and awesome on that mini portable pole. We were taught pole tricks and chair dancing and **Showcase** made it a point to mention that she is not a stripper nor has she ever been.
There were about 50 women in the group we had to come up with entertainer names and I was **Flame** or **Blue Flame** according to **Showcase**. The whole night was a bunch of women drinking and swinging around on a pole.
I don't have pics because no flash photography was allowed (boo) because I didn't want pics of the pole instruction, I wanted to show pics of this woman and her mama in the background modeling crocheted clothing that she made for sale. Believe me when I tell you there is NO way to describe that shit. She had casual wear and evening wear. Do people wear crocheted clothing--head to toe crochet?
Every time she came out with a new outfit and shouted out it's price, everybody gave a forced smile and an "...Okay." I was dying inside that I couldn't get a pic of that mess.

I figured dude to be one of the million or so weirdo attention whores on YouTube, but apparently his rants, primarily about black women, gave us a real insight into how messed up he was.

Detroit -- Anthony Powell, the man Dearborn police believe killed 20-year-old student Asia McGowan in a college classroom Friday before killing himself, posted hateful videos on the Web site YouTube in which he railed against black women and people who believe in the theory of evolution.
Powell's grief-stricken parents -- a retired Detroit Police officer and a registered nurse -- said Sunday their 28-year-old son had a history of mental illness. Sam and Doris Powell said they tried for years to get help for their son's clinical depression and other problems but never suspected he would hurt another person.
"If my child was going to kill himself, I would prefer he do himself, and not anybody else who was innocent," Doris Powell said.
"We are sorry for the death of (Asia McGowan)," Sam Powell said. "That's from the bottom of our hearts."
So disturbing were some of Powell's YouTube videos that another man with a YouTube site reported him to Detroit Police and got an e-mail back April 2 from someone in the office of Chief James Barren, according to a video posted on YouTube.
"On behalf of the chief, I would like to thank you for contacting us," said a message received by "Infamoustrag" on YouTube.
"I was unable to view the video. According to the site, I have to have a sign in.
"Do you recall exactly the content of the video? If it is too graphic, or you need to talk to me directly you may contact me at (phone number and officer's name blacked out)."
A spokeswoman could not confirm Sunday whether Detroit Police had been contacted about Powell.
Infamoustrag, who lives in Virginia and did not want his real name used, said he was concerned when he combined Powell's talk of suicide with him being upset over a girl. He sent an e-mail to Detroit Police warning of a possible suicide March 25 and provided a copy of the e-mail Sunday.
The e-mail did not mention the possibility Powell would kill someone else..
Powell, of Detroit, took a gun to Henry Ford Community College on Friday and shot and killed McGowan in a classroom, shortly before 1 p.m., before killing himself.
Campus officials ordered a lockdown until Dearborn Police could confirm a gunman was not still at large. The college reopens today for meetings for faculty, staff and students, according to its Web site; most classes resume Tuesday.
Turahn McGowan, Asia's father, said Sunday he was shocked by snippets of Powell's YouTube videos he saw on the television news and felt there were warning signs that could have prevented his daughter's death, particularly if police were warned about Powell. "It's like they wait until after the fact," he said.
Infamoustrag said on his site that Powell had talked about a girl he liked named Asia. But on the day of the killing, Powell deleted or made private the videos in which he talked about murder and suicide so they could no longer be seen, Infamoustrag said in the video. "I tried my best to help," Infamoustrag said in his video. "It was too late."
Don Cooper, 24 of Atlanta, a student and YouTube enthusiast who got to know Powell through the Internet, said he tried to encourage Powell to get help after Powell mentioned he had a shotgun and might do something stupid. But Cooper, who uses the YouTube handle "dc coop," said he was shocked by the action Powell ultimately took.
Powell's videos feature him sitting in his bedroom talking, and sometimes shouting, directly into a camera.
In one Powell video, titled "Black Women Don't Deserve Respect," Powell denounces black women as sexually promiscuous and says they "murder 1,500 babies a day" as a result of abortions. In another profanity-laced video, Powell attacks those who believe in evolution.
Doris Powell said her son was deeply religious and anti-abortion. He normally talked to his mother when something was troubling him, but she had been preoccupied recently by a serious stroke suffered by her father, who was also close to Anthony Powell, she said.
Anthony Powell had attended the community college off and on for years and recently said he was studying film and planned to go into the movie business, she said.
Powell worked at a variety of jobs, including at restaurants and a grocery store, his parents said. The Powells did not keep guns around the house and don't know where he got the gun, she said.
"Tony was the type of child that basically stayed to himself," she said. "He was a very shy type of kid and he didn't make friends easily. He didn't drink, he didn't smoke, he didn't do drugs.
"He never had a girlfriend."

What Makes a Women Switch Teams....
I've wondered this for awhile....how does a seemingly straight woman just up and decide that men aren't for her? I havn't seen too much of this in the Black community, but Anne Heche, Lindsay Lohan and Cynthia McKinney (pictured above) are prime examples. Anne Heche eventually saw the light and returned to dook as I suspect Lindsay Lohan will do now that her GF has kicked her ass to the curb.

A woman who ordered shrimp fried rice at A&D Buffalo’s on Monday afternoon called police when she believed that she didn’t get the extra shrimp she had requested.
Cook June Lee said Monday that there wasn’t anything wrong with the meal.
"She started yelling, and said that she wasn’t happy," Lee said.
The woman left the restaurant in the 4000 block of East Belknap Street and called for a patrol officer shortly after 3 p.m. But when the officer arrived, the woman and her boyfriend were gone.
I heard the actual 911 call on the radio this morning and of course she was black. I’m glad I was not the dispatcher because I would have kindly told her to take her azz somewhere and saddown. We gots to do better people!

Where did you grow up and where are you living now?
New Orleans, LA. Spent the important years in a faubourg called Marrero. I live in Atlanta now...College Park improper to be exact.
Besides chatting up on MS all day, what type work do you do?
Since I primarily take care of my mom, I work from home as Tech Support for all of Office Depot's websites for their contract customers. When I'm quiet in Halo, I'm more than likely on the phone, on an online chat or answering emails.
Do you have any hobbies?
Following American politics, stalking intendeds and buying accessories I don't need.
What/who are intendeds?
People I'm interested in. I scope them out because I need to know damn near everything about them right away. That's only human nature tho.
Are you single or married? Any children (including pets)?
Single and regretting it...for now. And my only kid is MeikiSquared which makes me a neglectful parent. If it counts, my two little brothers are still at home one is in college and one graduates high school this year. The only parenting there is handing out cash and keeping worthless hoes at bay. Sis don't play that.
Did you dream last night? If yes, what was it about?
I began this on 1/30, so this dream occurred the night before) On everything I love, I had a dream that INR got dropped off at my house by Twiz and she just came in the door and started making a sandwich with my good turkey. I didn't bring it up in Halo because it was TOO damn random.

Ever since I was young, I've had this reoccurring nightmare where I open my front door at night and a large dark figure forces its way in. Oh, and driving off a bridge.

The Snuggie
Yes ladies and gentlemen, I have finally gotten my hands on the beloved Snuggie!!! The above pic is of the actual box my Snuggie came in. I refuse to post a pic of myself wrapped in it for fear of being publicly ridiculed(cause some people on here are mean). But for all the naysayers let me tell you....this thing is the BESTEST! The soft fleece material keeps me nice and warm when I’m trying to save money on my gas bill and not turn up the heat. I can now surf the net on my laptop with ease because of the built in sleeves that allows my hands to be free *takes sip of grape crush*. Plus it’s big enough for two people, in case you feel the need for a lil “Snuggie love”…………
Now although I love my Snuggie I can’t help to be a little disappointed that………….I didn’t think of this ish first! It is afterall a fleece blaket with sleeves. I could have been rich!! Now they even have the Jr Snuggies for kids. But ones for pets hasn’t been tapped into yet. I could make some for dogs and call it the “Snuppie” for your Puppy. KJ and INR I’ll need your help in testing them out on your fur babies. I’ll cut each of you in on 10 percent of the profits. We gonna be rioch!!!
