The Way It Was

I decided to tune into last night's season finale of BET's Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is. I've never watched the show in the past because I know enough black people in real life who love to "keep it real", but I tuned in last night and all I can say is...WoW.

Someone named Raja on a message board summed up my thoughts about last night's show:

Pure stupidity!
Frankie [Keyshia's biological mother] is an idiot.
[Regarding the family reunion fight] Neffie [Keyshia's maternal sister] made far too much of where dude was sitting. Isn't it easier to talk to someone across from you rather than down the table from you?
Why does someone that is half way well behaved [Keyshia's foster parents] have to be [considered] phoney?
Frankie honestly believes that it is someone else's actions that turn Keyshia against her. Sad!! Drunken heffa.

For real, ain't nothing like an old fool.

The last half of the show was most interesting to me. Frankie (the mother) came in the morning to the family reunion drunk although she was there to meet one of her biological children for the first time.

There are a lot of black people that you just can't take anywhere.

They got into a big ass argument in the restaurant over the dumbest thing you could imagine.

Frankie was still drinking through the day while her animated ass was arguing, fighting and beating on tables and whatnot.

Some people like to think that if they scream the loudest or swing their arms hard enough while yelling, they must be right.

It isn't hard to find black folks who will scream, stab and shoot at one another and end up praying and hugging in the end.

That abortion conversation between Frankie and Neffie was also a trip. Frankie is really proud that she had seven children without terminating any of the pregnancies, but glazes over the fact that of all the seven children, she wasn't able and did not take care of any.
