Okay, I'm really mad they only showed the man's mouth through his interview.
LOL...check out the spokesman for the restaurant. He was making up that ish as he went along. "This is not the old [undefined] where you can come in dressed however you want making a statement, uhhh, we don't, actually, you know, that's one thing we don't allow. We don't want people making a statement with their dress."
And what statement is gold teeth making to you and your customers? You know they don't have a damn thing posted in that restaurant stating that. If someone came into that touristy spot restaurant with a t-shirt stating that Virginia is for lovers, you'd throw them out on their ass?
I'm not a fan of gold, platinum or diamond-encrusted teeth myself, but how does a customer wearing them disrupt the way you run your business? I don't understand how those grill thingys work, but if they have to take them out to eat, I can see how it may be unsanitary or unsettling to anyone who has to see it at a nearby table, then again, do you punish denture wearers or people who put their gum in their drink to hold it for later?
You ever notice how these establishments get more and more detailed about dress codes and policies? A new way of racial profiling if you ask me. The bouncers or waiters in these places can use their own biases and prejudices against whomever they choose to filter out their patrons into some ideal of exclusivity. They reject people for having unkempt hair when they're wearing an afro or dredlocks and when your jeans are not sagging, but they aren't hugging your ass at the same time, that's another violation. My e-buddy Ninja wrote an excellent post on this topic on her blog (Link).
Color me a bit irked because you know my people are from New Orleans and more than half of my extended family would not be allowed anywhere if this were the universal rule.
