The Games They Play: The 2008 Election

I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

Apparently, Michelle Obama is not feeling the love from those who have been patiently waiting to grab something, anything from the Obama campaign to run away with and yell, "See? Look! They hate America and this black Al Qaeda muslim wants to run for president and destroy America!" Yes, good ole America. You can't say anything that isn't 100% flag waving, apple pie shit without the Love It Or Leave It crowd pissing their pants about it.

In Milwaukee before Tuesday's Winconsin primaries Michelle Obama stated:

“For the first time in my adult life, I am really proud of my country. Not just because Barack is doing well, but I think people are hungry for change.”

The average person would hear this and and not think much of it, but when you're trying to revive an all-but-dead political campaign or trying to scare American voters into voting against your future presidental election rival, this is big stuff.

Michelle Obama has released statements explaining her remark, but why? I wouldn't have said a f*cking thing. This is a perfect moment for the Obama campaign to once again point out the lengths that its detractors go to make themselves look good by comparison. Now, that throw away comment has the Obama opposition geared up to make it the Dukakis tank of the 2008 presidental election. Frankly, I am not concerned with the impact of this "controversy", it has all the tenets of Myspace drama, but I'm posting this just to let you know or to remind you what the face of desperation really looks like.

Reaching - Intransitive Verb: 4. To make an excessive effort, as in drawing a conclusion or making a joke; overreach.

Take out some time to review some of the conclusions of "average" Americans: your friends, neighbors, co-workers and people you have to share the road with. Read what's on their minds and then see how Michelle Obama or anyone can so easily feel pride for America. Feel free to agree or to pick these opinions apart.

February 19th Bill O'Reilly radio program:

CALLER: I just wanted to say that I think Michelle Obama is
an angry woman
— is speaking, I think, with her real voice for
the first time.
And –

O’REILLY: But how do you — what do you base that
on? You’re basing that on what?

CALLER: Well, your representative asked
me not to talk about this, but I have a friend who had knowledge of her and said to me months ago, “This is a very angry,” her word was “militant woman.”

No, the big problem is that Michelle Obama is a loose cannon who shoots her mouth off in stupid ways, and people actually go out of their way to defend her!! She will end up being the bane of her husband's existence, by the time this campaign is over. You think Barack is happy about her statement?

Anthony Smith. You are 100% correct … we might see a candidate win the Democratic nomination who is in no way an American. He doesn’t appear to have any respect for the American flag … doesn’t want to salute it, doesn’t want to wear it on his lappel, doesn’t seem to respect it in anyway. And this guy is going to be our president? I’m also a Democrat that will vote for McCain … I have no doubt whatsoever that he is an American.

I cant believe the audacity of michelle obama…. how in the hell can you JUST NOW be proud to be american??? what the hell is that? I saw a video on youtube about obama refusing to salute the american flag, and I figure oh well maybe it was just a FLUKE or misrepresentation…. but this puts the icing on the cake!!! Im a devout democrat but was actually delighted to hear cindy mccains comments on michelle obama’s stupidity… “I have always been proud to be american”. If Obama becomes the democratic nominee I WILL BE VOTING FOR MCCAIN… at least I know he will be a president who is proud of the RED WHITE AND BLUE! HOW DOES HE EXPECT TO BE COMMANDER IN CHIEF??? I AM SO DISAPPOINTED WITH THE OBAMA’S RIGHT NOW… IF ANYTHING BARACK SHOULD KEEP HER IN CHECK… I WOULD BE DISGUSTED TO HAVE A FIRST LADY LIKE HER….. *********VOMIT*********

We all know Obama is totally void of any substance …. what you tend to get from most of these Affirmative Action programs.

THEN, it's repeated, so it must be true...

I was not surprized at Michelle’s comment………What do you expect, when her husband, who is running for President of the United States does not even wear an American flag pin on his lapel…and has ties with a racist church…I am very concerned about these people running this country, and I believe every American should be afraid. I do hope that McCain uses this comment to the fullest, if he runs against Obama. I really believe the Obamas’ are NOT what they want people to believe. Just my opinion.

WONDERFUL Michelle ! Spoken like a true moron.
I love the “spin doctors” who chime in on these sites, attempting to explain away her bone-headed thoughts on this nation.
I’ll bet that the majority of the “give-Michelle-a-hug” authors here have NEVER had to step-up and actually contribute to this country’s defense, welfare, or security. Nope, just kick back, enjoy the fruits of and freedoms of American society - sniping at those who STAND for something, while DEFENDING the miserable words of a women who knows little of sacrafice.
Michelle, I sincerely hope you regret your words, and take some time to reflect on their callousness.
Perhaps you could visit Arlington National Cemetery one fall morning, and, while facing those rows and rows of cold headstones, utter your contemptible words to those who fought and died for your freedom of speech… in a nation you’re embarrassed of.
- Ma’am, you sicken me.
- Sincerely, an Air Force Veteran (MSgt) “G”

I bet he still uses that "Air Force Veteran" line to get the draws. Loser one-trick-pony bastard.

Meanwhile, Cindy McCain, wife of Republican nominee hopeful John McCain, tried to make snide jabs at Michelle Obama's remarks by saying the following at a McCain rally Tuesday in Wisconsin:

“I am proud of my country. I don’t know about you? If you heard those words earlier, I am very proud of my country.”

Reporters: "Well, Mrs. McCain, are you referring to Michelle Obama's comments?"

“I just wanted to make the statement that I have and always will be proud of my country.”

Reporters Wednesday in Ohio: "What did you mean yesterday about your love for America comments?"

“I always have been and will always be extremely proud of my country. I have led an extremely fortunate life. It was nothing more than that. I am just extremely proud to be an American.”

Shut up, bitch. Your husband threw your dumbass out there to capatalize on this drama and was dumb enough to believe that you could handle your own or that you at least had the ability to explain what the f*ck you were talking about.

In other Election 2008 news, CNN can go to hell:

In whoever "The Man" is and his plans to constantly try to link Barack Hussein Obama to Islamic fundamentalist terrorism news, CNN's closed captioning system Tuesday evening posted on screen to the closed caption audience that Al Qaeda called to congratulate Obama on his Tuesday victory in Wisconsin, although reporter Anderson Cooper did not speak those words.

Did CNN apologize? Nope.
